Jackies Jukebox
« on: June 11, 2017, 10:13:40 AM »
Wife always wanted a JukeBox so this past winter I decided to try my hand in constructing one. After many hours searching web sites I was getting a little discourage to find out there is very limited information out there on this subject.  I finally came across this site "DWJukeBox" witch was a big help.   The following Link is a Youtube clip which shows parts of the construction.   Also, want to give a Thank You to Chris La Mantia for the software.

This is a great Inspiration for me.

Thank you!

Thank you.  I still need to find the time to do some custom led programing for it but wife does not not want me to touch it yet. 😀

OK, Finally found some time to do some LED Programming on Jackies JukeBox.  Its been the most enjoyable project that I have ever done.  I learned a lot about C+programming and the Arduino Boards.  Check this You Tube clip of my latest LED effects.

Hi Bob,
congratulations for your design, is a really inspiration for me, do you have any detail about measurements of the cabinet that you can share, I am also interested on silicon tube that you use, do you have the sizes or any reference where I can find it?

Thanks a lot and congratulations once again.

BR.

Hello BR,  Sorry for the late reply,  been on vacation.   Also thank you for the compliment on JBox

The physical overall size of the box is 59 inches tall 36 wide by 22 inches deep.  I think if a build a another one I would cut the depth to 20 inches deep.  This would then give you some spare wood veneer to work with as it was, I only had 4 square inches left out of a  4 foot by 8 foot veneer sheet. No room for errors.
As for the tubing I used, I ordered 1" I.D. ,1-1/4" O.D. inch Semi-clear High-pressure/Vacuum Polyethylene ( Part number 50375k59) from Mcmaster-Carr.  If you are planning on constructing a JBox  please post pics.  Love to see others.  Also happy to share arduine programing code for led tubs when you get that far, although I'm not a professional programing by trade. Its only a hobbie for me.  Also, I have some rough looking circuit diagrams I used and could try to post here if you need them.

Hi BobBoring.  I hope that you are still in touch with the forum.  So many people seem to have given up on the jukebox scene.
I have been messing about with DWJukebox for 6 years now.  your build is by far the best I have ever seen.
Although I have built several jukeboxes myself, including very modified skins, sounds, timers, and all sorts, I have only ever managed some pretty basic lighting.  It would be great if you could share some more details on your lighting setup. I have not used arduino at all before and would love to know about your programing and wiring.
Have a very happy jukeboxin' Christmas.

Hello LongPlayer,  Yes I am still following this forum but not as much as I use too.  Also, thank you very much for the compliment on my JBox build.  As for the LED  display goes,  I now think I may have over designed it with the arduino controller.  My original plan was to have a different light displays for each holiday and each party we hosted but after about three months of writing code I only came up with about 6 different displays (https://youtu.be/ZWGdVXJNOww).  I now run the JBox mostly in the Auto Mode then my custom displays modes.  The auto mode uses the Led Strip manufacture controllers which generate over 300 random patterns.  The custom displays are nice but took a lot of time to construct and program.  If i ever build another JBox I would simplify it  and just go with the Led Strip manufacture controllers only.  Also save me some $$.  I do have the JBox electrical schematics , some parts listing, and arduino code I could send you if you are still interested.  All my notes are in a  21meg zip file so you will need to make sure your email provider supports  large file transfers.

Please Note: I am not a Programmer.  I bought a couple arduine Books and and learned by online examples from the  Arduino Website.  I will be happy answer any questions or assist you if I can.

Happy Holiday to you.
Bob

Hi Bob.
Yes I am still very interested.
I would love for you to send me what you can.  I have no problem with large files on e-mails.
Many thanks again.
Once again, well done with your project.

Have a good Christmas

Mike
