dwjukebox Mp3 now licence-free
« on: December 02, 2018, 09:02:04 AM »
I recall that DWjukebox could not be used for commercial purposes because of some MP3 licensing issues.. But about a year or so ago MP3 became open source, and developers can use it without the need to license the technology. The institute that developed MP3 in the 1980's has made it available since it's now considered inferior to new formats like AAC and such. (You can google for more info about this, but here's just one article that reports it: https://ccm.net/news/28136-mp3-format-is-now-license-free )

So anyway, I'm opening a little concession stand here at the beach next summer and would love to have a 25 cent custom jukebox.. mostly as a novelty. So, I therefore inquire about you licensing DWJukebox since the MP3 snag is no more!
